About Me.

Where I have come from and what I want to achieve.

Alana D'Aquino is currently  â€‹the strongest junior DOTS* powerlifter in the world at the grand age of 22.

Growing Up.

Born in Victoria in Australia, Alana's passion when growing up was playing sports and being focused on achieving her goals. From 13 years old, Alana played Aussie Rules Football for Mentone Tigers Football Club player. The following year, she began her cricket career with Melbourne Cricket Club as a premier player for the next two years. She then returned to football to play for Monash University at 16.

In 2018, Alana had her sights on bodybuilding, and was crowned overall first winner in the Ms Figure ICN competition. The following year, Alana turned to powerlifting and achieved second place in the GPC winter open.

In 2020, she was drawn back to cricket, playing in Melbourne's premier league, which saw Alana hit a double century off 123 balls. She then stunned her team by retiring from the sport to pursue powerlifting.

Managing Diabetes.

At the age of 15, Alana was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. A shock to the family, she took this her stride and has since learnt to live with something that doesn’t have a cure. Needing constant monitoring and insulin injections to survive, Alana drew on her attitude of ‘never give up’ to help her through this difficult period in her life.

Powerlifting is my life.

From walking into PTC Headquarter in 2019, the gym became a second home, and she hasn’t looked back.

Her first competition was the Vic Winter Open, achieving a very respectable second place, totalling 420kg with 410 DOTS. In November 2019, just three months later, Alana took top spot at the Spring Nationals increasing her total to 470kg with 459 DOTS.

In 2022, Alana competed in Pro raw u75a, placing 2nd overall with a 565 DOTS and then onto Breakthrough Battlegrounds in Sydney where she competed at a light bodyweight u67.5kg totalling 580kg with 598 DOTS.

Steadily competing and raising the ante, Alana currently holds the mantle of being the strongest junior DOTS* powerlifter in the world. Not too shabby at all!

“Basically, powerlifting is my way of life.  I wake up every day to be not only strong but healthy for my future.”

Motivation.

Her excitement for powerlifting is visible, through her strict nutrition, training, and recovery regime. However, that has extra challenge due to her Type 1 Diabetes. But that is never going to hold Alana back, as her motivation is all about having fun while learning new things, meeting new people in this growing sport and never giving up!

Alana is now on the edge of taking the powerlifting world by storm and is excited to be heading toward her goal - to be the best female powerlifter of all time.

FAMILY.

Alana is supported by her loving parents, brother, and fiancé Isabella who helps Alana in training and her preparations for upcoming events and competitions. The couple will be married in October 2023.
